Involvements and Interests
Refuge UC
I have served as a mentor for Refuge UC since my sophomore year. Refuge UC is an organization that is aimed towards mitigating educational barriers in the refugee community through mentorship. Refuge UC has allowed me to truly learn about the struggles that refugees have to go through, and it has helped spark my passion for helping to mitigate educational barriers in underserved communities.
Globemed at UC
Globemed at UC is an organization that is partnered with Social Action for Women and Children, an organization that works to improve the lives of migrant workers and orphaned children from Burma who have fled to Thailand. Each year, we raise money for SAW. I am on the executive board for the 2021-22 school year as the Director of Campaigns. I plan various events and fundraisers to help raise money that our organization donates.
Cancer Justice Network
This semester, I have started working with the Cancer Justice Network Health Champions at Aiken High School in Cincinnati. This organization is aimed at breaking health educational barriers and stigma surrounding COVID-19 in the refugee community.
South Asian American Student Association
I have been involved with SAASA since my first semester of freshman year. SAASA allows me to learn more about not only my Pakistani culture, but also other South Asian countries. I am one of the Co-Presidents for the 2021-22 school year and have been able to put on various events showcasing and appreciating South Asian culture.
Research at CCHMC
I have been volunteering as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Dr. Azam's Hematology and Cancer lab at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. I have learned various wet lab techniques throughout my time at this lab.
Hobbies:
My hobbies include cooking, painting, photography, playing soccer, and traveling! Here is a picture I took when I was in Greece, as well as me with my intramural soccer team!
